Easter fun day a huge success - despite the rain!

March 27, 2016

Our Easter Fun Day was a great success, even though we had to move all the activities indoors to the village hall, rather than outside in the Orchard. It might have been raining outside, but inside we still had all the games, and the kids were having a great time.

We opened at midday for lunches and cakes – with our famous home made cakes appearing again at the pop-up tea shop. Thanks very much to all the parents, villagers and well wishers who donated cake!

Activities started in earnest at 2, with crafts including making Easter trees, and decorating Easter egg hunt bags. Then it was time for craft on a big scale – all the children helped up to paint a life size river down the length of the hall. We still wanted to play pooh-sticks, and not being outside wasn’t going to stop us!

We had the Easter egg hunt, egg and spoon races around obstacles, and more fun activities in the hall, whilst the tea shop kept churning out lovely goodness.

We then had our pooh-stick race, with heats where children pulled their pooh-sticks on string. After that it was the final, and the winner got a signed Stick Man book by Julia Donaldson!

We also had an amazing raffle, with great prizes from loads of generous donations – all from the community and local businesses. Thanks to everyone who donated a prize!

The weather did certainly keep some people away, but it looks like we’ve raised over £500 for our charity preschool, and kept all the children happy in the process.

Thanks everyone for your contribution!
